It has been a slow two weeks but today my squishy mail finally arrived and so after a two-week hiatus I can get back to work on my blankets.
I ran out of green (Stylecraft Special dk meadow) and none of my local shops had it in stock, so I had to order it online from England, on the same day as the postal strike began. Not fun!!!
The time was not wasted though. The break has given me the excuse (like I really needed one… :P) to crochet some small projects just for fun. A really warm snug cowl and a kindle cosy.
The pattern for this cowl is by Annelies Baes and I found it in Simply Crochet’s ‘Your Crochet Christmas’. She has loads of equally lovely free patterns on her Ravelry page as well. The pattern is actually written for an aran weight yarn, but I had a ball of stylecraft alpaca tweed dk lying around and decided to just give it a go. The result is a tighter fitting but really snug and comfy cowl. I love it.
The kindle cover pattern from monpetitviolon. I’ve loved the look of her patterns for years and upon discovering that this one was a free download I couldn’t resist. It only took a few hours to make and is really pretty. It is also nice and thick, so will definitely help project my aging kindle 🙂
Both of these projects were also perfect for practicing FPTr stitches. Turns out cables are actually way simpler then I thought they would be. 😀
So what have you guys been up to this October? I’d love to see your craft projects. Also if you have any interest in fig jam check back here wednesday as I will be sharing a really yummy recipe.
